چکیده

Abstract This paper introduces two methodologies to provide an optimum sensor deployment layout, one based on a model-based approach and the other entirely data-driven. The first method is formulated as integer optimization problem, criterion consisting of minimizing average topological distance. second new methodology placement regarding how many sensors install without using hydraulic information but just exploiting knowledge topology Water Distribution Networks. uses Girvan-Newman clustering algorithm ensure complete coverage network study installation pressure in central nodes each group, selected according different metrics centrality. illustrated Modena network.

Mobile sensor networks for optimal leak and backflow detection and localization in municipal water networks

Leak and backflow detections are essential aspects of Water Distribution Systems (WDSs) monitoring and are commonly fulfilled using approaches that are based on static sensor networks and point measurements. Alternatively, we propose a mobile, wireless sensor network solution composed of mobile sensor nodes that travel freely inside the pipes with the water flow, collect and transmit measuremen...

Sensor placement for classifier-based leak localization in water distribution networks using hybrid feature selection

This chapter presents a sensor placement method for the classifier-based approaches for leak localization in water distribution networks introduced in the previous chapter. The proposed approach formulates the sensor placement problem as a binary optimization problem. Because of the complexity of the resulting optimization problem, it is solved by means of Genetic Algorithms. In order to reduce...

Optimal Sensor Placement for Leak Location in Water Distribution Networks using Evolutionary Algorithms

In this paper, a sensor placement approach to improve the leak location in water distribution networks is proposed when the leak signature space (LSS) method is used. The sensor placement problem is formulated as an integer optimization problem where the criterion to be minimized is the number of overlapping signature domains computed from the original LSS representation. First, a semi-exhausti...

Topological clustering for water distribution systems analysis

Municipal water distribution systems may consist of thousands to tens of thousands of hydraulic components such as pipelines, valves, tanks, hydrants, and pumping units. With the capabilities of today’s computers and database management software, “all pipe” hydraulic simulation models can be easily constructed. However, the uncertainty and complexity of water distribution systems interrelations...
